MathWorks, the leading provider of mathematical computing software, and the Basque Research and Technology Alliance (BRTA), have signed an agreement focused on accelerating innovation and digital transformation across industries in the Basque Country. The agreement allows engineers in 12 BRTA technology centers to access the complete portfolio of MATLAB and Simulink products in support of their strategic R&D initiatives in areas including Cyber Physical Systems, AI and Digitalization, Robotics, Medical Devices, IoT and 5G.
For BRTA it has been a very satisfactory agreement, it will allow technology centers to have access to work tools that will make possible first class developments through modeling and simulation, to generate new knowledge and, what is more relevant, to transfer it to our business network and our society. Mathworks tools will make it possible to address solutions for complex systems in a wide range of fields: digital twins, applied AI, artificial vision, cybersecurity, process modeling, etc. “ Rikardo Bueno, CEO BRTA.
BRTA engineers will have access to more than 100 products in the MATLAB and Simulink software families, as well as an online suite of training modules and activities to support their user community, all provided by MathWorks, for use in the development of AI algorithms and embedded systems.
BRTA technology center projects that will benefit from the agreement will include:
- Next generation of Renewable Energy Systems including Wind, Solar and Batteries
- eMobility transportation vehicles and systems
- Digital Twins and Predictive Maintenance for industrial processes and machines
- Robotics and Autonomous Systems
- AI for Big Data Analytics deployed in the Cloud and embedded devices
- New IoT communications systems based on 5G
- Developing AI Enabled Digital Health Applications
To facilitate the discovery and use of MATLAB and Simulink, BRTA technology centers and MathWorks are collaborating on an adoption roadmap that will accelerate software ramp-up and facilitate communications between BRTA groups.
